  1. I enjoyed this, to be honest. However, there were some setbacks to getting this whole assignment to go smoothly. First off, this assignment is sort of difficult to do if you own neither a webcam or a microphone (headset, etc). Although the computer lab in the language building is open, it's a bit awkward to read something aloud with people around you. No offense to them, but I don't really want them to know what my favorite food (etc.) is.

I think this kind of assignment is neat, but it was difficult if you do not have the necessary equipment to finish it.

  2. I thought this was a great way to practice speaking spanish. I feel like we don't really practice much on our own outside of class. I think overall this was a positive experience.

  3. this was a good assignment, but the video player seems to be a little slow. it's probably because it is free and doesn't require a log in, which is cool. I liked it, but it makes me realize how bad I sound when I speak spanish outloud. haha.

  4. This assignment was very helpful in practicing speaking Spanish aloud outside of the classroom. I hardly get to practice outside of the classroom and this kind of homework will at least force me to practice sometimes. Overall this is a wonderful tool to use and my experience with using Mailvu was great.

  5. I think video email messages are a good way of practicing Spanish. Most homework doesn't really require you to speak Spanish out loud, so this is a good way to practice outside of the classroom. I had no problems with the website or anything else regarding this assignment.

  6. I think the Mailvu assignment was a good way of practicing Spanish without the pressure of having to know every word right on cue. I think you should continue to use Mailvu.

  7. Amanda-
I personally like speaking in groups in class is a more effective way of practicing spanish than the video. This is because your partner may be able to help you and correct you more rapidly than when you make a video

  8. I really liked this homework assignment. I want to minor in Spanish, and speaking it will only increase my knowledge. Last year for my Spanish class, we did things like this often. So I really hope we can continue doing stuff like this. I had no problems with any of this, and I don't mind if I have to speak it in front of people.

  9. I think that this was a good homework exercise for Spanish because it allowed me to think about the sentences and come up with some that were grammatically correct. I think that we should continue to use Mailvu during the semester.

  10. I believe that this was a good homework assignment for it helped me practiced my Spanish speaking skills. I do need to work on it, and just speaking in the class will not help me improve. I think we should continue to use the video program.

  11. Loved this idea Benito. We should do this a lot more. I think we should make some Spanish speaking films. WUPITO

  12. Although i enjoyed the practice of speaking the language outside of class, i do not really like the format of the video mail. I think it is weird and unnatural to talk to the computer. I found myself being very self conscience about the whole thing. Although I think that extra speaking practice is important i do not like this format.

  14. I really enjoyed being able to practice my speaking outside of class. Because sometimes in class its so easy to slip into speaking English. Also students around you, even though in a spanish class, do not expect to speak spanish during our exercises. If anything, I would like our composition to be verbal like this rather than a written paper.

  15. I did enjoy doing this to practice my spanish outside of class. I did feel that it was kind of lacking in some of the other features this webcam could be used for. For example, if we could do some sort of live video chat with other students to practice spanish or something like that. Other than that it was a very enjoyable assignment.

  16. I think this is a good way for us to practice speaking Spanish because we can see how we pronounce and act in the video. I practiced a lot before I sent it out. That is really a good way. Keep it. =)

  17. This was actually kinda fun. Had some issues with sound at first, had to re-film myself a few times but I got it in the end. I liked talking to the computer, this helped me prepare for the vlog I'm starting on youtube.

I think this excercise really helped because it forced me to talk in spanish outside of class. My spanish is very gringo and i had a lot of fun making fun of myself on this video thing.

  20. I thought this was a very good way of practicing speaking spanish. I think it was helpful and eventually would help me speak without having to write it on a piece of paper. Overall I enjoyed doing it, besides the fact that my roommate was laughing at me so I had to restart about 5 times and send her out of the room :D

  21. I liked this assignment and I think it would be awesome if it were somehow possible to do the oral exams this way. Sometimes its more comfortable to talk to a screen and see yourself so you can see exactly how its coming out.

  22. I liked this assignment. The only problem for me is that I would probably forget to do it because I do not have a video camera on my computer. Not saying I could not do it, but that I would forget to like I did this time, unfortunately.

  23. i really liked this video excersize. i had a lot of fun speaking spanish outloud and being able to hear myself speak the language rather than just read it. i think we should have more of these videos as homework to improve speaking as well as understanding.
